My first night out of Kansas I landed in Barnsdall, Oklahoma. My friend Rachel offered to put me up for the night, which I gladly accepted.

I had driven most of the day in cloudy weather, but just as soon as I crossed the OK border, the sky opened up.

I pulled over take a picture at the border, and found something lying next to my bike.  DISCLAIMER:  It’s a smooshed armadillo.  So if you’re easily grossed out, I wouldn’t click on this LINK.

After morning the loss of my dear friend the armadillo, I continued on.  These were taken just southeast of Bartlesville.

Soon I was rolling into Barnsdall, OK.  It’s a pretty tiny town; population somewhere near 1200 according to wikipedia.  I met Rachel at her place and we caught up for a bit.

It was really nice outside so we decided to ride bikes to a nearby lake so her dog Bree could take a dip.  Rachel and I had a stone skipping competition.  I’m not gonna say who ended up winning.

The water was freezing, but Bree didn’t seem to mind.

We rode back to her place, where her boyfriend met us with a fresh batch of homemade hummus.  Pretty damn tasty.  I have to get better at taking pictures of all my delicious meals.

The three of us hung out and chatted for awhile, then I hit the sack.  The next day I was headed for Dallas to get an oil change and stay with an old friend.  A million thanks to Rachel for feeding me and letting me crash!  I’m gonna have to make a return trip to get the full Barnsdall tour.

Okay so I’ve been gone three weeks now.  I thought I would be posting every couple of days, but that hasn’t exactly come to fruition.  Sorry.  It should go a bit more quickly here on out.  I’ve got my process down a bit.

The trip so far has been incredible.

I left Liberal on Saturday the 31st of March.  Here I am!  Bike is clean and ready, I look a little tired. ks-001

I headed out of town at dawn.  I hit Salley Road right as the sun came up. ks-002

It was pretty cold and there was a layer of mist blowing across the highway.  Pretty surreal, but also kinda scary.  I couldn’t see the road at times as i drove through it. ks-003

I had originally planned on heading south through Amarillo, but KU made the Final Four and I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to watch the game in Lawrence.  So I headed up and joined some friends for the game. ks-004

The Jayhawks won in incredible fashion, and we headed down to join the celebration on Mass Street.

Sunday I got up and drove around Lawrence for a bit, I wanted to get a picture with my bike in front of Allen. My Mecca.

From there I headed up to KC to hang with my friends Erick and Amanda.  I was staying until Monday to watch the title game, so Sunday I just hung out with them.  Monday I ran some errands to get a few things I needed for the trip, then that night we headed back down to Lawrence.  We decided to watch the game at the Fieldhouse.  It was packed to the brim and hot as hell, but such a cool experience.

Tuesday I headed south.  I was offered a place to stay the night with a friend of Erick and Amanda’s in Barnsdall, Oklahoma.  I didn’t make it that far.  Only 50 miles to be exact.

My bike was dead just outside of Osawatomie, KS.

I rode through some pretty heavy rain leaving KC.  Once I hit blue skies and sunshine I pulled over to rid myself of the oven that is my rainsuit.  When I hopped back on to continue riding my bike wouldn’t start.  It was making a weird clicking sound and wouldn’t turn over.  I let it rest for a bit, then tried a few times more and the battery died.

AAA to the rescue.  Man, I’m glad I spent the $125 bones on that.

About an hour later, John the towman showed up.  I was a little worried he wouldn’t have enough room on his rig.

We got the bike on the truck and headed back to KC.  It was about an hour drive to the Triumph dealer.  We fought rush hour traffic all the way into Missouri and made it there ten minutes before they closed.  The guys at the dealership fixed me right up.  Turns out my starter solenoid was full of water and I went ahead and had them put a new battery in as it was about time for one.  I really appreciated them helping me out so close to quittin’ time.

It was too late in the day to try to get any further down the road, so I crashed for the night at my good buddy Andy’s.

Wednesday I headed out again and had better luck.  The weather was still pretty cloudy and cold.  I ran into a few rainclouds but nothing like the day before.

I’ve got more photos on my gallery page HERE.  Thanks for reading!

Here’s my animation reel from the last four years I spent working on LEGO Universe. It’s quite long, and I would never really send out a reel like this. I had over 30 minutes of footage to sift though, and just wanted to make an edit of the stuff I liked.

Took this on one of my last nights in Denver.

No aliens or Will Smith, just blue sky and clouds.  Took these on the 4th west of Divide, CO.

I’ve been pretty lazy with the drawing the past couple weeks, but here are a few that i didn’t think were too bad. I’ll hopefully have some time to post my pencil test I’ve been working on this weekend.

A time-lapse test I did west of Denver tonight.

I’m dusting off my 2D skills and doing a little animation test with this guy.  We’ll see how it goes.  Animation to come shortly, stay tuned.

Spent a week in the U.S. virgin islands with my family.  Got some quality sketching time in. Enjoy.
